Gainsborough Silks

1. Paul Smith has joined forces with Gainsborough Silks to produce a collection of charming and sophisticated upholstery fabrics.
Gainsborough Silks, specialists in Jacquard weaving, was founded in 1903 and since opening has attracted the most discerning clientele. Royal Warrant Holders to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, Gainsborough’s commissions include fabrics for the Titanic, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
The collection launches with a traditional damask, originally commissioned for the casino rooms of The Cunard Liners (1950), re-invented in sage green. Motifs of wine glasses, playing cards and cockerels are highlighted in rich burgundy. Other exclusive new fabrics include multi-stripe silk damasks with designs from the ‘Chatsworth’ and ‘Medici’ collections.
