Paul Smith Pre-Collection Autumn Winter 10
Whilst on his travels, Paul came across an old English made-to-measure riding jacket, tailored by Huntsman of Saville Row London. A label inside caught his eye; the jacket belonged to a Lady Leigh, and so a journey to find out more about her began. Subsequently the collection remains rooted in British ancestry whilst encompassing Paul Smith’s signature twist and heritage.
The foundation of the collection lies in the classic tailoring pieces with particular attention on a reworked version of the original riding jacket.
Feminine shapes and textures are present also; thick foxy collars reminiscent of grand fur stoles are wrapped around the neck whilst black stretch lace and lingerie silks are layered under heavy outerwear or dresses. Lace ribbons and corsages adorn shirt collars and lapels add an elegant touch. Distressed argyle knits feature alongside jodhpur detailing throughout considering outdoor pursuits.
Definitive in colour, the collection has a warm Winter palette of garden green, fox brown and crimson cooled by turquoise and soft nude tones.
