Nuala Goodman exhibits portraits in the Milan Showroom

Tuesday 8 April 2008

Nuala Goodman will be exhibiting a series of paintings of inspirational people from the creative fields, at the Paul Smith Showroom, Viale Umbria, 95 Milan. The exhibition conicides with the Milan Furnuiture fair, and will run from the 16th-21st April.

"This current series of paintings came about as a result of painting a portrait of Ettore Sottsass in 2004. All the people I’ve chosen to paint work in creative fields - design, architecture and fashion, and they all possess a charisma, a sort of iconic quality which I’m trying to capture in these portraits. The paintings are all 80 x 100cm, painted in acrylic and directly figurative up to a point, then I add decorative elements, using devices such a velvet flock. These portraits represent a kind of personal catalogue of figures from the Milan design world" Nuala Goodman

"After several years of showing the work of product designers during the Milan design week, this year I thought it would be interesting and alternative to show the work of artist Nuala Goodman which features great paintings of designers. We hope you can visit.” Paul Smith
