The paintings' eclectic vision are of pin-ups, rock-stars, photos from magazines, art, films, and books - and take their key from sources such as authors Jean Genet, Thomas Pynchon and Milan Kundera, to Fleetwood Mac, Roxy Music and experimental film makers such as Stan Brackhage.
Nick Cave's first band - Boys Next Door - lends the title After a Fashion to the exhibition of new work, implicating the paintings in the realm of style and underscores their physical presence, questioning how things appear in one way, but act in another.
Matthew La Croix is an artist currently studying an MA at the Royal College of Art. He lives and works in London.
