For the 11th year running Marie-Christiane Marek has organised an exhibition of Christmas tress designed by the worlds top fashion designers. The ex presenter of Paris Modes has been inviting fashion designers to create Christmas trees to raise money for the French charity Fondation d'Auteuil which helps orphaned children, 100 designers were invited to take part this year. The trees are all being auctioned on the 21st December, but are on display to the public at the Centre Pompidou until this date. The Launch party and auction will be televised on TV 5 in France on 23rd December at 5.00pm.
Paul Smith has designed a number of trees over the years and this year he took inspiration from coat hangers and Christmas cards.
"In today's world of mass production, I really appreciate things that are made by hand, unique, 'one off' pieces. This is why I commissioned the tree to be made by a friend of mine - the tree is decorated with old Christmas cards that were sent to me, so it is very personal." Paul Smith.
