Following the success of their installation at SPACE last year, we welcome back the Zarigani design studio, creators of curios and novelty toys, for an exhibition of their giant ‘Korejanai’ Robot.
The hand made ‘Korejanai’ Robot became a craze in Japan and China following it’s launch in 2001. The robot’s name translates to ‘not this robot’, following the initial reaction of children when they saw the toy.
To mark the robot’s unlikely success, Zarigani Works have created a twenty metre tall replica of the original robot’s head for display on the SPACE gallery balcony. Also on display are the original design plans and accompanying visuals by Naoki Honjo.
In addition to the exhibition and a pop-up shop in the basement, Zarigani Works will hold a talk each Saturday between 6.30-7.30pm.
