Based in London, Naomi creates an array of artworks using appliqued, recycled fabrics and freehand embroidery on a sewing machine. She paints whimsical, bold and often surreal paintings and Indian ink drawings; doodling, intricate line-work and decoration feature highly in both mediums.
Over the moon about her debut exhibition in Japan, Naomi’s ‘Doodles, Dreams and Stitchery’ is inspired by love, nature, dogs, myths, animation, poetry, her vivid dream-life and her love of food (especially marmite). There will also be embroidered chairs on which to rest your weary bones.
Naomi has collaborated extensively with Paul Smith, working on embroidered footwear, ties, handkerchiefs and various special projects - a selection of which will also be on display, in addition to her own personal series of work.
Naomi will be in residence at Space Gallery on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August 2011 from 12:00pm to 16:00pm, demonstrating on her trusty Janome sewing machine.
