Michael Putland - Rock Heroes
Paul Smith is delighted to host ‘Rock Heroes’ – an exhibition of rare photographs of rock and roll legends by Michael Putland.
Celebrated rock photographer Michael Putland will showcase a selection of photographs that span his career. Images depict musicians and icons of our time – Mick Jagger, Bob Marley, David Bowie amongst others.
Michael Putland was born in 1947 at Harrow-on-the-Hill near London. He began shooting photographs at age nine and upon leaving school he secured work with the music magazine "Disc & Music Echo". His first assignment was Mick Jagger. He went on to photograph John Lennon and Elton John among others, before moving to "Sounds" magazine and continuing to photograph the biggest names in music. He relocated to New York in 1977, where he continued his record company work and editorial assignments, shooting artists as diverse as Billy Joel, The Clash and the Bee Gees.
Paul Smith’s Art Wall exhibitions are a unique feature to inspire travellers - prints will sit alongside items carefully sourced, rare and interesting graphic design books as well as the eclectic items that Paul has gathered on his travels.
