Barbour + R.NEWBOLD Collaboration

R.Newbold collaborated with Barbour for AW11, over a mutual respect for functional quality workwear consisting of a Jacket, Gilet and Shirt.

The stand out collection piece is Barbour’s iconic Bedale jacket with a printed wax ‘patchwork’ polka dot print. Made in in the Barbour factory in South Shields UK, with all the functional details the Bedale is renowned for, the jacket is finished with the classic olive Barbour tartan lining. This has also has been reworked with the polka dot treatment. This fabrication is also taken into a quilted down gilet with classic cord yoke and trim. The lightweight deep indigo denim hunter shirt is shown with a 'patch on' wash and polka dot print panels.

Barbour

John Barbour started J Barbour and sons, a shop in South Shields UK in 1894. The shop sold items from outerwear and boiler suits, to painter’s jackets and right through to underwear. Barbour established a name in supplying shipyard workers and seamen of the port with Beacon brand oilskin coats designed to protect the growing community from the worst of the weather.

R.NEWBOLD

In 1885, Robert Brewster Newbold opened a factory in Pear Tree Road, Derby, England. R.Newbold supplied workwear to the tradesmen, military and workforce of Great Britain. Today R.Newbold is a supplier to a new generation of customers worldwide. Whilst reflecting current British youth culture, the clothing still represents the original core values of honest, quality, functional workmanship born in Britain.
