Paul by Paul Smith Autumn/Winter 13 Muted shades, a soft silhouette and faded floral prints give a romantic femininity to the Paul by Paul Smith autumn/winter 13 collection. Influenced by the delicate use of colour and dreamlike feel of the photography of Deborah Turbeville and Francesca Woodman, the Paul by Paul Smith collection builds a painterly mood for the season. Contemporary and with a dash of bohemia, the casual items in the collection collage together into a rich mix of colours and textures. This season's palette mixes three key tones: delicate sepia and rose tints offer a nod to Turbeville and Woodman's work; bold bursts of citrus yellow and hot pink are influenced by classical tapestries; and monochromatic moments give a contemporary edge to pieces. Bold, feminine prints are a highlight of the collection. 'Romantic Rose' is a key print across the collection, mixing photographic florals with bright bouquets it appears on a jersey maxi dresses, on a scoop neck t-shirt and on cotton trousers. The 'Floral Jacquard' print is also in full bloom on a belted miniskirt, cropped collarless jacket and double-breasted pinafore dress detailed with rose gold buttons. Knitwear is given a seasonal update with new yarns and eye-catching details. Nordic Intarsia styles introduce graphic colour blocking and chunky cable knits come in autumnal shades of teal and mustard. Denim is reinvented with patterned detail pockets and piping, whilst ultra-soft navy chambray is used to create softly tailored styles.
