Craig Damrauer at Paul Smith 'Globe', London Heathrow

New Math is Damrauer’s inventive take on simple, everyday words by quantifying their meanings with witty algebraic breakdowns of the terms and their definitions.

The project started in 2002 for a solo show at MoveLab in New York City. Since then it’s taken various forms, from a website to a limited-edition deck of cards edited by Ed Ruscha.
Currently, New Math appears every other week in The Atlantic, an American cultural and literary magazine which comments on political science and foreign affairs.
Craig Damrauer lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated with an MFA from the University of Arizona in 1996. His work has been shown at MCA Denver, Los Angeles Contemporary Editions, the Pulse Art Fair and 20 x 200 and has appeared in publications including the New York Times, GOOD Magazine, and Anathema.
