Focus | Paul Smith Men's Accessories Spring/Summer 14

Paul Smith draws on bold shades of green, purple and blue for the spring/summer 14 bags and accessories collections, combining both luxurious and technical fabrics and reflecting the look that runs through outerwear and ready-to-wear.

Influenced by the palette seen on the catwalk for the Men's spring/summer 14 show, there's a nod to the acid tones that defined the 70s. Whilst in the clothes we saw confident hues of yellow and peach gradating across knitwear and pleated trousers, the accessories collection also makes bold statements in shades of sky blue, green and purple.

In the now familiar V-Base holdall, the muted colour of the base panel contrasts with the bright colour of the body of the bag, while the diagonal lean of the base and front section creates a structured feel to the piece. Over time and with use, the quality leather softens and the holdall takes on a slouchy vintage look and feel.

Again, inspired by the refined sports-infused aspects of the collections, accessories such as bumbags, pocket pouches and backpacks have a practical edge but are executed with exquisite finishes to create luxury items.

Throughout the collection distinctive finishing touches appear; holdall handles are upgraded with a mesh embossment, gold-plated zips reinforce the high end focus and patterned linings deliver the ever-important unexpected element.
