Every season in The British Collection familiar tailoring fabrics are rejuvenated; for autumn/winter 14 a monochrome Prince of Wales check is enlarged by 600%, a classic white chalk stripe gradates to give the appearance of falling raindrops and a flower bursts into bloom, with one full repeat engineered across the fabric of the garment. With each design every detail is woven into the cloth before being expertly cut into the suit.
Paul Smith's dedication to pushing the boundaries of cloth construction is made possible by the expert skill and craftsmanship of Yorkshire Mill, Joseph H. Clissold. Reaffirming our partnership with the mill, every cloth in the autumn/winter 14 collection passes through their looms and in turn their fingertips. Combining skills, Paul Smith and Clissold are consistently pioneering new techniques, striving to celebrate the inherent qualities of the wool. Every piece of cloth is a masterpiece of weaving.
This week, Paul Smith returns to London Collections: Men to debut the autumn/winter 14 British Collection. Paul explains, "After the success of last season's presentation, I wanted to show The British Collection again at LC:M. The British Collection is something we're particularly proud of and Clissold Mill continues to work hard to create truly extraordinary cloths."
