Paul Smith Women's Accessories SS14

For spring/summer 2014, Paul Smith brings a vivacious and optimistic feel to its accessories collection, featuring tropical prints and colours meshed with soft pastels and relaxed silhouettes.
A vintage Vogue interiors book treasured by Paul provided inspiration, evoking a sense of quintessential Englishness that is conveyed through quirky, contrasting patterns and muted shades. Fuchsia pink, emerald green, fresh coral and cornflower blue are seen across the collection, interspersed with pale mint and a touch of metallic.
This season sees a fresh take on Paul Smith's signature swirl, which is translated across a number of different bag styles, with the iconic design engraved into the leather. Bold, graphic detailing and colour-blocking draws the eye, while a textural dimension is added via new two-tone woven leather – in a combination of black with a vivid blue highlight or off-white and black – in which a contrasting base colour shines through to the surface.
A unique twist on the classic British fishing bag, the Whitstable, comes in a coated canvas with Italian leather trim and has a cross-body strap, providing a sharp silhouette.
A softer, more casual look comes in the shape of the Westbourne, which incorporates a detachable cross-body strap and is also available in a 'Mini' option. The diverse nature of the collection is demonstrated by several clutch versions, including the Starlet – a take on the classic envelope style, featuring an origami-inspired enclosure and playful design touches. With a whimsical sketch of a clock by Paul, inspired by the tale of Cinderella, it comes in brush-off calf leather in three bold colours.
Epitomising Paul Smith's mixing of the stylish and functional, the Tokyo wallet features an innovative flap feature that enables access without the necessity to fully open it. A larger version, incorporating a slip pocket big enough for travel essentials like a phone and passport, can be used as a clutch. Colourblocking and a play on textures are themes that recur across the collection, embodied by subtle details such as belts with a flash of colour under the tip and buckle fastenings constructed from woven leather.
