Elisa Jane Carmichael at Paul Smith Melbourne, Australia

Paul Smith Melbourne hosts 'Mumberleya Tumbe', an exhibition of work by Elisa Jane Carmichael.

Currently based in Brisbane, Elisa Jane Carmichael is a Ngugi woman and descendant of the Quandamooka people of Moreton Bay Queensland, Australia. 'Mumberleya tumbe' (meaning 'Live') brings together an array of artworks depicting the fauna and flora her family used for food and other medicinal uses for survival. Elisa Jane has used colours from every spectrum to create whimsical lines, curvy strokes and bold dots developing the life of each plant onto canvas and endorseing the Aboriginal name they have. With this exhibition, she hopes to share her families cultural connections with nature and the world.
