Multi-view zoo jigsaw puzzle, designed by Fredun Shapur.
Aiming to encourage collaboration, this geometric puzzle can be built from any side. First created in 1964 by Galt Toys, it is now in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Born in 1929 in South Africa, designer Fredun Shapur much like Bruno Munari and Charles Eames, chose to focus on the world of childhood for his designs and went onto work for a variety of toy manufacturers such as Naef, Trendon and Galt Toys throughout his career.
Still designing today, Shapur is well known for his modernist approach not only on toys, but also in his illustrations for children’s books.
Going on to work collaboratively with Stephen A. Miller at Creative Playthings in the mid 1960's, he re-designed the logo for toy manufacturer and in turn created one of the most iconic identities in the toy industry. This relationship continued until 1974 when Miller departed the company and Shapur went onto work for several European companies up until his retirement in 1980.
